He ultimately was able to accomplish his dream, and Happyland was published in 2021 (by Little Kenny). His dream was to write his own book, a perspective of his upbringing in the “city” and a comical autobiography of sorts. He was also employed at Foxwoods Casino for over 25 years. He had an extreme attention to detail with his work, and would go back to the start if he wasn’t 100% happy with the progress. He satisfied many local residents by bringing their antique or family heirloom wood pieces back to life. Ken worked for many years at Helikon Furniture, which ultimately led to his passion for furniture refinishing and restoration and subsequently the start of his small business, Furniture Physicians. This was his coined phrase that his family will remember him by. “Happy”, he would exclaim, often at random. Sitting on his deck listening to the babbling brook (even in the cold), or basking in the pool with Billy Joel playing in the background was where he found his serenity. He loved nature, animals, sunsets, watching the birds at their feeders, and the simple things in life.

He later continued this tradition with having a seasonal camper there for his wife and kids. In his youth, he spent many memorable weekends and summers at Pequot Ledge Campground on Gardner Lake in Oakdale, CT. He loved to paint in his spare time and would share this hobby with his grandson Kai.

These passions were visible with the many adornments of each being the first things noticed upon entry to the home he worked so hard to provide for his family. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan from age 10, a fan of US and World History, and shared a love for The Wizard of Oz with Carol (he was able to imitate the Cowardly Lion like no other). Ken was a full-blooded Irishman and was very proud of his heritage, which was especially evident during festive annual gatherings for St. Ken grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from Bullard-Havens Technical School. He is survived by his son, Timothy (Preeyanuch) Frederick daughter, Shalyn (Joseph) Rygielski sister, Maureen (Thomas) Forgette nephew, Brian Forgette grandson, Kai Frederick Carol (Keith) Winter (mother of Tim and Shalyn), and many other nieces and nephews. Ken was born Apin Bridgeport, CT to the late Edward and Kathleen (Wynne) Moran. Moran of Norwich, CT (owner of Furniture Physicians) passed away Monday, Sat age 62 after a short battle with a rare disease.
